Mission Statement
The mission of the Office of Risk Management (ORM) at the Texas State University System (TSUS) is to protect certain critical aspects of the component institutions in regards to the workplace and campus safety of its students, staff, faculty, visitors, assets, operations, and continuity of those operations when disruptions occur. The ORM strives to enhance TSUS’s overall educational mission by eliminating, reducing, or minimizing risk exposures through the use of innovative risk control, claims management, risk financing techniques, regulatory compliance, and a variety of strategic programs designed to provide a safe, healthy and environmentally sound campus.
Risk management initiatives are supported through the Risk Management Operating Committee (RMOC) comprised of professionals from the System and its component institutions. The ORM and RMOC are committed to excellence in developing fiscally prudent strategies for the protection of TSUS and its component institutions. These programs and strategies will address relevant issues concerning the stewardship and preservation of TSUS assets and resources utilizing appropriate technology, methodologies, and processes that enable each institution to better identify its risk, better reduce its cost of risk, and to carry out its established educational mission in a sustainable manner.
