Texas State University System Chancellor Brian McCall has appointed Dr. Wendy Elmore as the next president of Lamar State College Orange, pending approval of the Board of Regents. Dr. Elmore, currently executive vice president and provost of LSCO, would succeed President Tom Johnson, who announced he will retire at the end of the current academic year.
The Texas State University System Board of Regents today reelected Alan L. Tinsley of Madisonville as chairman of the board, and Stephen Lee of Bastrop as vice chairman. The unanimous votes occurred during the board's quarterly meeting at Lamar University in Beaumont.
The Texas State University System has hired Capitol veteran Johanna Sheffield as assistant vice chancellor for governmental relations. Sheffield will assist TSUS and its member institutions with informing, enhancing, and seeking support of system priorities before the legislative and executive branches of state and federal government.

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Olivia J. Discon, a criminal justice major at Sam Houston State University, as student regent for the 2024-2025 term. Ms. Discon is one of eight student regents appointed to the governing boards of Texas’ public university systems and independent universities.
