Johanna Sheffield

Johanna Sheffield, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Governmental Relations, worked in the Texas Capitol for nearly 20 years. In the legislature, she worked for Senate Finance Chairwoman Joan Huffman, former Senator Kel Seliger as Chief of Staff and Director of the Senate Higher Education Committee, and former Senator Kip Averitt. In addition to higher education, Johanna has worked extensively on electricity, economic development, public education, transportation, pensions and investments, election, and health and human services legislation. Additionally, she has actively participated in the budget process and the Sunset Commission’s work evaluating state agencies.

After earning her undergraduate degree from The University of Texas at Austin in Government, Ms. Sheffield recently completed a Master’s in Higher Education Leadership and Policy at her alma mater.
