(CONROE) - The Texas State University System Foundation today announced winners of the 2020 Regents’ Awards, which recognize outstanding faculty, staff, and students for their professional and academic achievements. Recipients of the four Regents’ Awards are:
Regents’ Professor (Recognizing Outstanding Research, Teaching, and Service)
Jerry Cook, Ph.D. - Professor of Biological Sciences, Sam Houston State University
Duane Knudson, Ph.D. - Professor of Health and Human Performance, Texas State University
Patricia Shields, Ph.D. - Professor of Political Science, Texas State University
Regents’ Teacher (Recognizing Outstanding Teaching and Innovation in the Classroom)
Ann Burnette, Ph.D. - Associate Professor of Communication Studies, Texas State University
Celeste Domsch, Ph.D. - Associate Professor of Communication Disorders, Texas State University
Rachel Romero, Ph.D. - Senior Lecturer in Sociology, Texas State University
Regents’ Staff Excellence (Recognizing Professional Competency and Commitment to the Institution)
Emilio Carranco, M.D. - Student Health Center Director, Texas State University
Regents' Student Scholar (Recognizing Outstanding Academic Achievement and Leadership Ability)
Isabella Garcia - Junior Biology Major, Sul Ross State University
Tiffany Tran - Junior Biology (Pre-Dentistry) Major, Lamar University
Award candidates are nominated each year by the presidents of their respective institutions. Successful nominees are chosen by the TSUS Foundation Board of Directors based on the recommendations of three advisory committees consisting of previous award winners, and Chancellor Brian McCall.
Regents’ Professor and Student Scholar award winners will be formally recognized at the November 2020 Board of Regents meeting in Beaumont. Regents’ Teacher and Staff Excellence award winners will be recognized at the February 2021 meeting in Austin.
