Additionally, the TSUS Board of Regents encourages teaching excellence by recognizing faculty who deliver the highest quality of instruction. TSUS's highest faculty honor, the Regents’ Professor Award, is awarded to faculty who demonstrate excellence and exemplary achievement in the areas of teaching, research and publication, and service. The Regents' Teacher Award is conferred upon faculty who demonstrate outstanding performance as educators through their contributions to the development of courses and use of innovative teaching methods.
As Texas’ first university system, TSUS serves 90,000-plus students with more than 4,500 faculty and 5,000 professional staff. About one-third of TSUS students are engaged in online learning. The system’s leadership and dedication to digital pedagogy ensures faculty are well-prepared and supported, leading to successful educational outcomes for nearly 30,000 online students worldwide.
TSUS also cultivates strategic partnerships among its institutions and with business, industry, government agencies, community organizations, and nonprofit partners to support innovation and meaningful social impact. Through strategic partnerships, TSUS supports research on teaching and learning, acquires new technology to design and deliver curriculum, and provides transformational professional development experiences to strengthen the pipeline of effective teachers and academic leaders.
The National Higher Education Conference was hosted by NASH, the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE), the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC), and the Thurgood Marshall College Fund.
