(AUSTIN) - Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Texas State University student Camile Settegast as student regent for a one-year term ending May 31, 2022. Ms. Settegast is pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Marketing. She is one of 10 student regents appointed to the governing boards of Texas’ public university systems and independent universities.
Ms. Settegast succeeds recent Sam Houston State University graduate Amanda Lee, whose one-year term on the board expired May 31, 2021. Gov. Abbott also appointed Texas State University student Matthew Smith to a one-year term as student representative to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
The student regent has the same rights as regularly appointed board members, except the right to vote or be counted toward a quorum for official board business.
The Texas State University System is Texas’ first university system, consisting of seven institutions stretching from far West Texas to the Louisiana border.
