(AUSTIN) - Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Dylan McFarland, a criminal justice major at Sam Houston State University, to serve as student regent for the Texas State University System.
McFarland will succeed Spencer Copeland, also a student at Sam Houston State University, who was appointed to the TSUS Board of Regents in 2015.
McFarland is one of 10 student regents appointed by the governor to their respect universities' governing boards for terms beginning June 1, 2016, and expiring on May 31, 2017. Gov. Abbott also appointed a student representative to serve on the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
