(AUSTIN) - Governor Rick Perry has appointed Anna Sandoval, an education major at Sul Ross State University, as student regent for the Texas State University System for the 2014-15 term. Ms. Sandoval is one of 10 student regents appointed by Gov. Perry to serve on the governing boards of Texas' six university systems and four independent institutions.
Sandoval will replace Matthew Russell, a public administration major at Texas State University, who has served on the board since June 1, 2013. The student regent is a non-voting member of the governing board, but provides an important perspective on matters being considered and voted on by the board.
