(SAN MARCOS) – The Board of Regents of the Texas State University System today recognized Susie Fortenberry as the Regents' Staff Member for 2014. Ms. Fortenberry is the executive assistant to the president of Lamar Institute of Technology (LIT) in Beaumont.
Fortenberry has worked in the "Lamar Family" of organizations for more than 45 years, supporting a number of executive staff at Lamar State College of Technology (now LIT), Lamar University, and the Lamar University System Office.
She received the award at the TSUS Board of Regents' quarterly meeting on the campus of Texas State University in San Marcos. The honor includes a framed resolution, medallion, and a check for $3,000. Fortenberry will hold the title of Regents’ Staff Member for life.
Fortenberry has garnered numerous awards and honors for outstanding service, including the first-ever Lamar University System Regents' Staff Award, and is a four-time winner of the Lamar Institute of Technology Staff Excellence Award. She is active in several community organizations, including the Texas Special Olympics and March of Dimes.
